4th Annual Dr. Robert A. Hull, Jr. Memorial Lecture Series Event

 Robert Hull

On Friday, October 25th, the Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders (CSD) hosted a continuing education event for 60 speech-language pathologists and healthcare professionals in our community. In addition, more than 100 CSD graduate students participated. The event was the 4th in a series of lectures that began in 2010 to honor the late Dr. Robert A. Hull, Jr., a beloved CSD professor who worked at VSU for 23 years. The presenter for the 2013 lecture event was Gwen Provo-Bell, a pediatric speech-language pathologist with over 25 years of experience with neonates, medically fragile infants and school aged children. She currently works at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt in Nashville, Tennessee where she evaluates and treats children with oral motor/feeding disorders in both the acute and out-patient settings.Mrs. Provo-Bell’s discussion, demonstrations, and video examples included a focus on feeding fundamentals in pediatrics. The event was held in the University Center and included lunch catered by VSU Dining Services. All proceeds from this lecture series benefit the Dr. Robert A. Hull, Jr. Scholarship Fund, which is awarded each spring to an undergraduate CSD student with a strong record of academic success and community service.
