Yellow StarIn a partnership with Auxiliary Services, Enterprise Applications and Analytics (EAA) has implemented an application for Housing and Residence Life known as StarRezStarRez allows students to select rooms and search for roommates during allowable periods, such as room reclaim or room selection interests (February 17-21). Students should log in with their Active Directory credentials, in which Helpdesk can assist. However, further student questions or assistance requests should be referred to Housing and Residence Life.

 

 

January/February 2014 Super Techs

TSS Assistant Director, Sterlin Sanders, has implemented a new employee recognition program for his area aptly titled the “TSS Super Tech Award.”
Technicians are assessed using a developed rubric emphasizing initiative, professionalism, quality of work, reliability, and uniqueness. Recipients of the award receive a certificate and a $25 gift card.

Taray is a lead technician that performs at the level of a full-time IT staff member. He consistently conducts himself in a professional manner and applies a strong initiative towards handling IT business transactions within Inventory Management. Outside of IT, he is one of the co-founders of the popular mobile app Blazer Nation, which has accumulated over 4000 downloads in less than a year.

Chad is student technician that has been employed with us for only a year and half but performs at the level of a four-year veteran. He’s a quick thinker with the ability to resolve the most advanced technological issues by using self-guided troubleshooting skills. Chad is always willing to pitch in and help out in other areas of TSS. Outside of IT, Chad is the vice president of the prominent on-campus group Media Arts Geniuses. At the recent Harper Hill event (50 Years of Integration) at the Student Union, his group created a video documentary of the movie actor’s work, which was personally recognized as a job well done by Harper himself.

Person at computer    VSU IT Training and Communication provides technology training and support of campus site-licensed software and accounts to VSU faculty and staff. Classes are free to all VSU employees.

VIEW SPRING 2014 TRAINING SESSIONS.

VoIP/Jabber (IM)  March 19 @ 1:30pm-3:30pm
Designed to help you become familiar with the features of the new Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) phone, this hands-on workshop will demonstrate tasks such as transferring calls or speed dialing; as well as introduce you to the instant messenger application called Jabber that integrates many of the phone features such as voicemail, conference chats/calls, and call history.

Cascade Basic (Web Editor)March 21 @ 9:30am-12:30pm
The Cascade Basic training introduces features available in the new content management system (CMS) utilized by VSU to maintain departmental websites.  This class is mandatory for those who have the responsibility of editing departmental web content. It is also a prerequisite to attending the Cascade Intermediate training and Cascade Open Labs.
