PeopleSoft Upgrade & Internet Explorer Compatibility

ATTENTION: VSU Faculty and Staff

PeopleSoft is scheduled for an upgrade beginning November 17. There is a potential that the web browser Internet Explorer (IE) versions 10 and earlier may not be compatible with PeopleSoft once the scheduled upgrade is complete on November 21, 2016.

To check the version of IE currently installed on your computer, complete the following steps:

1. Open Internet Explorer

2. Select the Tools icon Title: Tools icon - Description: Gray gear located in the upper-right top corner of your screen; or for IE8, select the Help button

3. Select About Internet Explorer

If you experience functionality issues in PeopleSoft while using IE10 or earlier, you can use the latest versions of Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox; or you can upgrade to IE11 via the LANDESK Management System installed on your computer. To update to IE11 via LANDESK, you have two options:

OPTION 1: Update via LANDesk Workspace (PC)

1. Click the Microsoft Start button Title: Microsoft Windows Start Button - Description: Red, green, blue, and yellow squares inside circle

2. Select All Programs > LANDesk Management > LANDESK Workspace

·     Click Yes if a Security Alert notice pops up.

3. From the Software Catalog list, select Update Internet Explorer 11-Silent Installer and follow instructions

·     If you do not see Software Catalog, click on the Menu option 3 horizontal white lines in the top left-hand corner > select Software Catalog

·     If there is an error message stating IE is not installed, please see the steps below on “Updating via Portal Manager”

4. Once installed, Restart your computer to configure IE11.

OPTION 2: Update via LANDESK Portal Manager (PC)

1. Click the Microsoft Start button Title: Microsoft Windows Start Button - Description: Red, green, blue, and yellow squares inside circle

2. Select All Programs > LANDesk Management > LANDESK Portal Manager

3. From the Launchpad, select Update-Internet Explorer 11 Silent Installer; click the Launch button Title: Launch and follow instructions

·    If IE11 is not listed, click the Refresh button two circling arrows to update the list.

4. Once installed, Restart your computer to configure IE11.
