Helpdesk Receives Chancellor’s Gold Award for Service Excellence

On Friday, Oct. 10, IT Helpdesk received the Chancellor’s Gold Award for Service Excellence by Chancellor Hank Huckaby during an awards presentation in Atlanta.

This is the highest level of award given for the category. Helpdesk also received an Honorable Mention. The award recognition is a wonderful reflection of the exceptional service provided by the hardworking and efficient Helpdesk team, who continue to raise the bar for top notch client support and service.

Sterlin Sanders, assistant director of technical support services, was also nominated individually for a service award for his dedication and consistent willingness to go above and beyond normal job responsibilities.

Rock Eagle Annual Computing Conference, October 22 – 24, 2014: Held in Eatonton, Ga, the conference provides an opportunity for University System of Georgia (USG) technical staff to exchange ideas and explore new technologies. Several IT staff members will be attending the conference this week.

What’s New in Office 365

Microsoft has added a few new features to Office 365:

1TB OneDrive for Business
Office 365 now provides users with 1TB (1,000GB) of OneDrive for Business cloud storageLearn more about OneDrive for Business

Office Web Apps
Web Apps for Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote are now available.

Increased Mailbox Storage
Each email account has been provided with 50GB of additional storage.

Office 2013 for Students
All students have received the Microsoft Student Advantage which allows each student to install Office 2013 (or Office 2011 for Macs) on up to five computers and Office mobile apps on five devices. For steps on downloading Office 2013 or Office mobile apps, view the Microsoft Student Advantage Guide.

Office 2013 for Faculty and Staff
VSU-owned equipment can be upgraded to Office 2013 by request from Information Technology. However, faculty and staff must purchase “Work At Home” media to install Office 2013 on personal equipment. Learn more about Work at Home Software
