The sign makes it sound like a whole computers were wasted just for people to get a password. Glad I don’t have to go to the Odum just to get the password.
The machines utilized for the GALILEO Password Discovery workstations are older low-end computers that were spared from being sent to University surplus for disposal, because of being salvaged for the purpose of facilitating access to the GALILEO password.
Implementation of the GALILEO password login on the Library’s public workstations was done in an effort to ensure that the computers are reserved for the Library’s primary clientele, VSU students, staff, and faculty. At the same time though it was also recognized that the GALILEO password which changes quarterly, isn’t necessarily common knowledge throughout the VSU community. Thus the need for the GALILEO Password Discovery workstations.
Computer guest access for Library visitors is limited to the small group of machines positioned by the 2nd floor Reference Desk.
