Cooking with the Bible takes eighteen meals found in the Bible and gives menus and recipes for recreating dishes like those served at the prodigal son’s return, at Queen Esther’s table, or at King David’s wedding.

Carob Cake for Two Sons

1 ½ cups flour ~ 2 cups sugar ~ ¾ cup milk ~ 5 T. cooking oil ~ 2 tsp. vinegar ~ 2 egg yolks ~ 2 tsp. baking powder ~ 1 tsp. vanilla ~ 1 tsp. salt ~ 6 T. carob powder

Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour a large cake pan. Mix all the ingredients in a large bowl. Pour into the pan. Bake for 1 hour. Serve warm.
