Watch VSU concerts online!

by Ginger Williams on February 9, 2011 in Odum Library

Are you a music lover? There are many reasons you might not be able to make it to campus to enjoy a concert. Maybe you’re at home watching the kids, you don’t have a car, you’re a distance student living up in Jasper.. the list could go on and on.

Now VSU is bringing the music home to you! You’ll be able to watch concerts online at http://www.useducationtv.com/default.aspx?sid=286

Why not check out a saxophone recital by Associate Professor Joren Cain? Watch it live on Sunday, February 27th at 7:30 PM.

Do you love Latin-American music? You might enjoy the Pan American concert at 7:30 PM on April 17th. This concert will feature a couple of the talented librarians from your own Odum Library.

You can watch the concerts live or check back in a few days to watch the archived performance. Contact the VSU Department of Music for more details: http://www.valdosta.edu/music/

I see that you are now able to post concerts. I am requesting that VSU Concert Choir concerts between the years of 1999-2004 be posted if able. There are a lot of us from that time that would love to see old concerts of us. Thanks!

Hi Stephanie! Thanks for your comment. I can understand that you’d want to watch recordings of previous concerts. I just mentioned the live streaming of VSU concerts on the library blog to help support another VSU department and especially to let our distance students know that this is available. You might want to contact Dr. James Shrader (Department Head of Music) or Bill Muntz (director of Video Production Services) to express interest in streaming previous events. It looks like the aim of this project isn’t to post archival footage but to broadcast and store current campus events. I’m posting a link to an article that ran on the VSU homepage last month with more information on this topic.
