Elantu Veovode: Knotwork Paintings

by Maureen Puffer-Rothenberg on February 26, 2013 in Odum Library

The art display outside the Hub on the 2nd floor features paintings by Elantu Baiat Veovode.

Many of Veovode’s works are based on mathematics, repeating motifs and knots around a number.

The use of plants and animals in my designs defines my work. I begin with the zoomorphs, arranged in a pleasing mathematical relationship to one another, and then design the knotwork to complement the figures. In many cases, the knotwork is designed to describe movement associated with the animal.”

The three examples of her more recent work– shown on the west wall of our gallery space– incorporate images from physics and string theory.
