Update from Jordana Price!

What do you remember most fondly about the MFT program (experiences, fellow students, faculty, learning, etc.)?

Hello all! I miss everyone so dearly! Just thought I would drop a couple lines….My fondest MFT and FamilyWorks memories are the relationships I built with my professors and cohort. I miss all of the deeply intellectual and stimulating systemic conversations…as well as changing lives through talk therapy. These experiences have greatly shaped who I am today and how I view the world and I couldn’t be more grateful!

We’d love to hear something of what you are doing with your life!  Tell us about your job (whether MFT related or not), your family, your educational pursuits, etc.:

Currently I am working full-time as a first assistant volleyball coach at the University of South Alabama in Mobile, AL where I coach and work with 11-16 division one student athletes at any given time, whom tend to pull out pieces of my therapeutic knowledge on a daily basis. I meet with my players about their personal, athletic and academic lives often and I enjoy sharing and guiding them from a systemic standpoint! 🙂

I hope everyone is wonderful! Lots of love from Mobile!

What do you remember most fondly about the MFT program (experiences, fellow students, faculty, learning, etc.)?

“A memory that sticks out are the paradigm shifts my cohort and I learned from the amazing professors! I will keep those tidbits of wisdom throughout my professional career. Being from the Northwest, I greatly enjoyed my time in the Southeast. Many unique experiences I fondly remember. I will always treasure the friendships I made that I still maintain today.”

“I have been working full-time in private practice since 2009 and graduated with my Ph.D. in MFT in 2013. I am in the process of purchasing a multiple-location private practice and will enjoy doing administrative duties as well as clinical work. My husband and I had our first baby in June of this year and we are enjoying this season of life!”

Ms. Leslee Bry shares:

What do you remember most fondly about the MFT program (experiences, fellow students, faculty, learning, etc.)?

“Practicum was my most fond experience. Watching Dr. Warner and the rest of the team in action was truly inspiring and I think it taught me a lot about how to tackle many different obstacles and challenges that therapy can produce.  It also provided me with an arena to take risks, which is where I personally found the most growth.  I also truly loved being at both Moore st. And Familyworks! The client base was diverse, the professors supportive, and the atmosphere warm and exciting.”

“Valdosta has provided me with such an amazing education that has translated beautifully to my occupational pursuits in Maryland.  I quickly established myself as part of a group private practice called Linganore Counseling and Wellness, LLC.  I am constantly acting as an ambasator for the MFT world and my co workers are very impressed with my experience coming into this position.  My clients are also very receptive to the therapy that I provide and I truly dedicate a large portion of my success to the mft program.  I am just so happy and I am glad to have a place to share it!”

“It was a time and place where I learned so much about myself, good and bad. So appreciative of all of those who played a part.”

“Just started my private practice this past Fall. It’s been quite the adventure but I am loving every minute. It allows me to do the work I love but the freedom and flexibility to still play Mommy to my two sweet babies, (Cam is 2 and Abby 9 months). I’m living up in the Augusta, GA area now. Professionally I am pursuing my EFT certification as well as my Gottman Methods certification. Hope to complete both by 2016. I became fully licensed last year and am so glad to be done with that phase!! Missing my MFT family near and far!”

Mr. Eric Williams shares:

What do you remember most fondly about the MFT program (experiences, fellow students, faculty, learning, etc.)?

“I remember Dr. Laughlin being super cool. The practicum experiences in the Moore St. Clinic I will never forget with the team buzzing in offering new ideas. I talk to other students and professionals from various programs that never experienced that. VSU MFT program has been a cut above the rest for a long time!”

“I am an Army veteran working in my very own private practice (6 years now) in Fayetteville, NC. I am also a husband of 8 years and father of identical twins ages 6 years old. I am licensed as both LMFT and LPC and credentialed as a Nationally Certified Counselor. I am in my second year of doctoral program at Regent University for Counselor Education and Supervision. My client case load consists mostly of military members, families and veterans. Since my twins are both diagnosed with autism, I serve on board of directors for local chapter autism society. I am pursuing presenting at local, state, and national conferences since I am active in both AAMFT and ACA. Ultimately, I would like to become a professor and help develop and mentor newer clinicians in both the marriage and family therapy and the professional counseling fields. Additionally, I plan to continue working with couples and families and the diversity of issues with which they may present.”
