We are all made up of layers. Our different layers can be protection, a distraction, or something we have to fight against. Depression and Anxiety are two of my layers.
Metal has long been a material that people have treasured and sought after. It often represents wealth and class when worn as ornament. I see Metal as a material that can be molded and shaped into many different forms just as with the human mind. And just like metal, we can resist change and require work and encouragement to overcome obstacles. The way metal is formed can lead it to be as light as a feather or as Heavy as a cannon ball, constantly weighing down the individual who is carrying it.
Through my work I strive to achieve the visual representations of Depression and Anxiety, and the turmoil they can cause to a person’s health and well being.
