If your work is accepted into the Student Competition, you are expected to deliver your piece(s) with the following presentation guidelines to the VSU Dedo Maranville Fine Arts Gallery on Monday, March 7 between 8:00 AM and 5:30 PM. please contact Gallery Director Julie Bowland at jabowlan@valdosta.edu if you need to make an alternative delivery time.
Note: works that do not meet these guidelines will not be exhibited, even though they were accepted. It is the responsibility of the artist to know and adhere to these guidelines. Present your work in a way that best shows the work itself. Black, white, silver, gray, or wood frames with a neutral mat are strongly suggested for most 2-D work. If your art is non traditional and you have an unconventional way you wish to present it, it must be approved by Gallery Director Julie Bowland. Ask before you submit it.
2-D Works on paper up to 30 inches in any direction must be framed, under plexi-glass or glass, and wired for hanging. Works on paper over 30 inches may be installed with magnets, clips, or other alternative methods; contact the Gallery Director if your work is accepted and is over 30 inches.
Paintings – All paintings with edges less than ¾” deep must be framed with lattice or other appropriate material. Paintings with edges deeper than ¾” may simply have the edges painted for presentation. Paintings must be wired for hanging.
Interior Design projects mounted on foam board need not be framed but they must be well-presented, with paper completely and smoothly adhered to the board, free of wrinkles or air bubbles. Boards must be cut evenly and smoothly, free of rough edges or bent corners.
3-D Works – All 3-D works must be stable and not pose a risk of falling over.
4-D Works – Videos may be submitted by filling out the application with all required information and emailing the file to jabowlan@valdosta.edu
**No work may cause a public health hazard.**
The Dedo Maranville Fine Arts Gallery and the VSU Department of Art & Design are not responsible for lost, damaged, or stolen work. Work left behind cannot and will not be the responsibility of any of these entities.**
