Self-Bio

I am a senior Finance major with a minor I speech communication. Member of the leadership team for Heart of Faith Ministries. I first got interested in investments my junior after taking an investment course. After joining the investment group I had the opportunity to work with some great individuals who prepared me to hold the position of sector manager. This too prepared me to become the fund manager, my current position in the group.

 

  • BioMy name is Micah Smith and I am the sector manager of the Emerging/international markets sector in the Valdosta State Investment Group. I am a 22 year old senior who will graduate on May 10th 2014 with a BBA in Finance. This is my 2nd semester in the investment group and my first as a sector manager.

    In the Emerging Markets Sector, we aim to invest in foreign stocks in developing countries such as Mexico but we also invest in developed countries such as China. Our main objective is to invest in foreign stocks to better diversify the investment portfolio.

 

  • Blake J  ButlerMy name is Blake and Accounting/Finance major and I’m the small cap sector manager. I try to find small undervalued stocks (mosquitoes I call them) to invest in. I started with the VSU investment group as a freshman three years ago. I primarily invested in mutual funds up until the crash of 2008 when I got more serious about investing.

    “My name is Ashlyn Seymour and I manage the Mid Cap sector of Valdosta State University’s investment group. I am 22 years of age and I am from Powder Springs, GA.  Currently, I am senior looking to graduate in May 2014 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in Finance. I joined the VSU investment group in Spring 2012 and since then I have gained valuable knowledge of how to engage in the stock market.

    The Mid Cap sector includes companies with a market capitalization ranging from around $5-$10 billion dollars. Some well known companies in the Mid Cap sector include Family Dollar, Whirlpool, Expedia, Groupon, and many others.”
