Meet Javian Williams, a creative and talented senior at Valdosta State University who will be graduating in May 2023. Originally from Thomasville, Georgia, Javian relocated to Valdosta to improve his artistic skills and expand his knowledge. During his four years at the university, Javian’s artistic style has undergone significant changes. From recreating cartoons to tackling serious issues, his art has evolved.
In this year’s senior show, Javian showcases his three latest artworks: Traumatic Love, It’s All In Your Mind, and Inalienable Rights. Each piece addresses a unique issue and offers a thought-provoking perspective on it. Traumatic Love is an abstract art piece that reflects on domestic violence and the impact it has on people’s lives. Javian wants to raise awareness about this issue and the negative impact it has on individuals affected by it.
It’s All In Your Mind is another abstract art piece that tackles the stigma surrounding mental health. Javian highlights how it has become one of the most talked-about sociopolitical issues in America. Lastly, Inalienable Rights is an abstract artwork that draws attention to human rights and how everyone should be entitled to them. Javian also alludes to the current political climate, where politicians are stripping away the rights of minority groups such as the LGBTQ+ community. Javian’s artworks are a reflection of his growth as an artist and his willingness to address critical issues in society. His unique perspective and talent shine through in each of his pieces. As Javian prepares to graduate in 2023, he looks forward to continuing his art career and raising awareness of important social issues.
