Cute and Creepy, a show curated by Carrie Ann Baade, traveled to the Dedo Maranville Fine Arts Gallery at Valdosta State University this fall. Perfectly timed  for Halloween vibes, the exhibition opened mid-October and ran until early November. Spine-chilling Creatures Shock VSU

Halloween Arrives Early at Valdosta State

The “Cute and Creepy” exhibition at the Dedo Maranville Gallery was a thrilling show that one would not easily forget. The exhibition was curated by Carrie Ann Baade, and features the work of 7 artists, and the media used ranged from paintings to sculptures.  The artists’ works were arranged throughout the gallery, not grouped together, which made for a more interesting and enjoyable experience. This past October, I had the pleasure of going to the Valdosta State University Dedo Maranville Fine Arts Gallery to attend the “Cute and Creepy” art exhibition located in Valdosta, Georgia. When I walked into the gallery my eyes were drawn to a lady wearing a black Medieval-looking dress and hat. Total Eclipse of the Art

The solar eclipse was not the only spectacle that happened on August 21, 2017. Valdosta State University kicked off the semester with its first opening of the academic year in the Dedo Maranville gallery by showcasing the faculty’s artwork. This incredible exhibition is an amazing starting point for the semester, as it allows the students and visitors of VSU to view the personal works that the art  and design professors have spent time creating and researching.
