Patrick Spurlock graduated in 2011 and studied for his MLIS while working at the South Georgia Regional Library. He earned the MLIS and became the Access Services Librarian for the SIT Graduate Institute in Brattleboro, VT as well as for the SIT Study Abroad which entails servicing the campus in Washington, DC (virtually and in-person) and 78 study abroad locations globally.

Larry Dean graduated in 2011 after majoring in Criminal Justice and taking a variety of upper level courses in Philosophy. He was drafted into the NFL and played for the Minnesota Vikings until 2014. He then played for the Buffalo Bills for a year, and in 2015 he was signed to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers until September.

Michael “Mykell” Barlow was a major in Philosophy and Religious Studies, concentration in Religious Studies, in 2010. Jason Patrick Adams graduated with a Religious Studies Minor in 2006. He studied Theology at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum) and at Mount St. Mary’s University. He studied STB Theology at Pontifical North American College. After serving the Archdiocese of Savannah for a number of years as a priest, he is now Parochial Vicar at St. John’s Catholic Church in Valdosta.

Demarcus Marshall, 2004, MPA Program, Valdosta State University. Degree conferred 2005, elected to the Lowndes County Commission in 2012. He was honored as an outstanding alumnus in 2015.

Lance Eric Neff received his BA in Philosophy in 2001, and received a Master of Theological Studies from Weston Jesuit School of Theology. He also graduated from Florida Coastal School of Law and is now a practicing attorney in Florida, working in the office of the Florida Attorney General. Jason Johns earned his BA in Philosophy in 1999 and is now an attorney and partner with Jackson Walker LLP in Houston, Texas. http://www.jw.com/Jason_G_Johns/

He was honored as an outstanding alumnus in 2013.

Jason Morris received his BA in Philosophy in 1997, and went on to earn a Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine from Temple University. He is now the Director of the Laser Division of the Village Podiatry Centers, based in Atlanta, Georgia. He was honored as an outstanding alumnus in 2019.

Jeremy Jones graduated with a BA in Philosophy in 1997. Jeremy attended Asbury Seminary and is now an Ordained Methodist Minister.

Anna Mitchell Hall graduated with a BA in Philosophy in 1996 and received her MPA in 2002, and a MDiv degree from Candler School of Theology at Emory University in 2008. She also earned the PhD in Adult Education and the Interdisciplinary Qualitative Studies Graduate Certificate program at the University of Georgia. 

Mark A. Taormina graduated with a BA in Philosophy in 1996. He worked towards his Doctorate of Philosophy at the University of Georgia and is an HIM Systems Analyst at Athens Regional Medical Center. 

Pam France earned her BA in Philosophy in 1995 before attending Asbury Seminary. She is now serving as an Ordained Methodist Minister.

Mark D. Kinservik earned a BA in Philosophy in 1995, and completed GBI Special Agent training in 2014

Nick Hodge graduated with a BA in Philosophy in 1994, and went on to earn a BS in Education in 1997 and a Masters in Education in 2009. He currently teaches at Berrien High School.

Ralph J. Hiers received his BA in Philosophy in 1993 as is now a practicing attorney in Atlanta, Georgia.

Bruce Morgan earned a BA in Philosophy in 1991, and earned a Master’s degree in English Literature from VSU in 1998. He is now earning his second Master’s in Theological Studies at Iliff School of Theology, which is connected to the University of Denver in Colorado. He is continuing to teach at Charlton County High School, including college level courses (English 1101 and 1102; Introduction to American Literature) in the dual enrollment program, for students in high school receiving college level credit. Niles Reddick graduated with a BA in Philosophy and a minor in Sociology in 1988. He is currently Vice President for Academic Affairs at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton, Georgia and has become a well known writer and editor. Mark Redermahl graduated with a BA in Philosophy in 1987 and is now an Assistant United States Attorney in Atlanta, Georgia. 


Randy Acree graduated with a BA in Philosophy in 1985 and is currently a practicing Attorney and member of the Georgia State Bar, living in Fernandina Beach, Florida. 

Christopher Rogers works for the U. S. Department of Defense, contracted out to Lockheed Martin in the Information Technology section as an I.T. Specialist/PC Analyst Level II. Previously, Christopher worked for the District Attorney in Houston County (Central Georgia) and worked with Assembly of Democrats in Madison, Wisconsin.

Mike Bass received his BA in Philosophy in 1985 and is now a practicing Attorney in Valdosta. 

Kenneth Eddings graduated with a BA in Philosophy in 1984. He became involved with Apple Corporation as a Hostmaster and is a lead tech volunteer for EG Conferences and TED Conferences.

Pete Mastin graduated with a BA in Philosophy in 1983. He is the CEO of the Jolokia Corporation, handling software development and learning experience platform spaces.

John Robbins graduated with a BA in Philosophy in 1982. He is now a nationally renowned defense attorney in Alabama. John’s picture recently appeared on the front page of the New York Times, and he has been featured on such news programs as PBS’s NewsHour. Alan Bernstein graduated with a BA in Philosophy in 1981 and went on to earn many graduate degrees including a Doctorate in Education in Curriculum and Instruction. Idella Moore was the first female Philosophy major graduate.  She also received an MA in History from Florida State, and is now the leader of http://www.4era.org, the only national single-issue Equal Rights Amendment organization in the country. Ray Peace graduated with a BA in Philosophy in 1974. He is now an Instructor of Philosophy at VSU and a performing musician.
