VSU\u2019s Dedo Maranville Fine Arts gallery will be transformed into a giant drawing installation for the upcoming solo exhibition, UNDERLINE. <\/em>Award-winning Philadelphia artist Paul Santoleri will surround viewers with drawings hanging from the gallery ceiling, drawings spray painted on the walls, and drawings on the floor. It will be a total immersion of art. Paul will be on hand to deliver a gallery lecture at 4PM, Monday, February 12, with the opening reception from 6-7:30PM.<\/u><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/u><\/p>\n

Biography:<\/p>\n

Paul DiFuria Santoleri is best known for his drawing installations and his wall-sized paintings that can be found in city streets around the world. His focus on the art of line has led him to create works in a wide diversity of situations and often in public spaces. Very recently Santoleri<\/p>\n

permanently installed a 6 by 30 foot stoneware tile mural in the Philadelphia International Airport. He has received numerous honors and awards for his art, among them: grants from the Pollock-Krasner, Independence Foundations, and the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, and most recently, from the Santo Foundation in St. Louis Missouri (2018). A book about his work was published by Criteres Publications in Grenoble, France (the publication accompanied his first solo show in Paris). Paul has conducted many social projects through his art, participating in residencies and collaborations through artistic communities and embassies worldwide, most<\/p>\n

recently with a group of students in Lagos, Nigeria. He has collaborated on many occasions with the city of Philadelphia\u2019s Mural Arts Program, a world renowned city public art program in his home city. Santoleri\u2019s work encompasses a variety of media, but endlessly returns to<\/p>\n

the stories that can be found in the drawn line: Black ink is a favorite, but also line etched in a wall, carved in glass, concrete, wood, obsidian, fresco, or color. Paul has traveled extensively to make his work, and he is represented globally in collections public and private. Upcoming solo exhibitions \/ installations will be in the spring at the Kansas City Artist Coalition in Missouri.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
