\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>The Film & Video Society held its Spring 2018 End-of-the-Semester Showcase on Sunday, April 29, featuring 20 of the Mass Media program\u2019s best student productions. The two- hour show was held in the Student Union Theatre, and winners earned gift certificates to Best Buy for the Audience Favorite category, as voted by the attendees.\u00a0 The program included ads, PSA\u2019s, music videos, short films, mini-documentaries, promotional, and news pieces.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Director Church Barnas won First Place for his comedy \/ fantasy piece, \u201cCouncil of Joe.\u201d\u00a0 The plot featured a young man named Joe, whose inner thoughts are depicted onscreen by a bickering \u201ccouncil\u201d of actors, who guide and push him to make quality decisions about his life.\u00a0 The piece was written by Nick Gillis and Church Barnas.\u00a0 The Assistant Directors were Lacey Crandall and Robert Massey. It was produced and edited by James McCanney. Max Steele played Joe, and Jonathan Bice, Alize Robinson, Dalton Yawn, and Robert Massey\u2019s voice played the Council.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Second Place went to Taren Pineset, for her comedy, \u201cThe Parking Guys,\u201d about\u00a0\u00a0 the Parking Violations Bureau, and their daily struggles to catch parking rules violators, starring Max Steele and Jennifer Rainer.\u00a0\u00a0 Third Place went to \u201cLittle Actors, Big Dreams,\u201d a documentary by Shawna Lucas about the Little Actors Theatre in Valdosta, where young people gain confidence through onstage performance.<\/p>\n

FVS Faculty Advisor Dennis Conway and President Jonathan Bice hosted the event.\u00a0 FVS Officers Max Steele, Evan Creamer, and incoming President Peter Falkenhausen served as Production Crew.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The FVS will hold its Fall 2018 Showcase in November, as well as other events in the Fall.\u00a0 The group meets on the first and third Wednesdays of the month at 7 p.m. in the Mass Media Building, to encourage student video production, and discuss film industry issues.\u00a0\u00a0 It will also host the South Georgia Film Festival, to be held in spring of 2019.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
