The exhibition features a Day of the Dead Altar and art created by CAMP students David Bautista, Karla Rodriguez, Evelyn Hernandez, Emily Sanchez, Andy Gutierrez, Graciela Rodriguez Gonzalez, Veronica Baustista, Yucen Umana, Diana Reyes, and Karen Ramirez Rubio.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\">Dia de los Muertos is a Hispanic holiday with a rich tradition that integrates pre-Columbian and Catholic customs. It\u2019s celebrated in Mexico and Latin America on November 1<\/span><sup><span style=\"font-size: small\">st<\/span><\/sup><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium\"> as Dia de los Inocentes (Innocents Day) and 2<\/span><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: small\">nd<\/span><\/sup><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium\"> Dia de los Muertos (All Souls Day). On these days, we honor those departed as their spirits make their journey back from the underwork to be with their living relatives each year. Dia de los Muertos is about celebration of the cycle of life and death rather than loss and sorrow. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri;font-size: medium\">In this exhibition, we will highlight an \u201cAltar de Muertos\u201d. The altar will feature a collection of handmade objects and pictures of our relatives as a way to honor them in the afterlife.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri;font-size: medium\">The altar will feature handmade cempasuchil (flower of the dead), papel picado (chiseled paper), alebrijes (spirit guides).
