Is \u201cKeeping Up With The Kardashians\u201d the Worst TV Show Ever? Is \u201cFresh Prince of Bel-Air\u201d the Best Sitcom Ever?\u00a0 Is \u201cBreaking Bad\u201d the Best TV Drama Ever?\u00a0 These and other questions were debated on Wednesday night, Sept. 18, at the Film and Video Society\u2019s \u201cReel Wars \u2013 TV Shows\u201d Event.<\/p>\n

Members and guests debated the Best TV Shows Ever in 4 categories and the Worst TV Show Ever, in a 75-minute battle between 3 teams. The victors were the Watchmen, composed of Nicholas Weaver and Cameron Davis, who took home a $50 gift certificate for Starbuck\u2019s. The other teams were the Arkham Knights (Ryan Bryant and Hakeem Bray), and the S & C Team (Darius Soilberry and Cyle Clark).\u00a0 The debate was judged by Mass Media teachers Sofiya Tarasevitch, Joe Culverhouse, and FVS Faculty Advisor Dennis Conway.\u00a0 FVS President Arianna Williams hosted the event and Vice President Cameron Tudor created the visuals.<\/p>\n

The debate featured 5 questions and 5 rounds. The questions were:\u00a0 1. What is the Best TV Sitcom Ever?\u00a0 2. What is the Best TV Drama Ever?\u00a0 3. What is the Best TV Reality Show Ever?\u00a0 4. What is the Best TV Talk Show Ever?\u00a0 And 5. What is the Worst TV Show Ever?\u00a0\u00a0 The Winning Shows (and also-rans) were: 1. \u201cFresh Prince of Bel \u2013 Air\u201d (over \u201cBlack-ish\u201d) \u00a02. \u201cBreaking Bad\u201d (over \u201cGrey\u2019s Anatomy\u201d)\u00a0 3. \u201cTop Chef\u201d (over \u201cTo Catch A Predator\u201d and \u201cJudge Judy\u201d)\u00a0 4. \u201cOprah\u201d (over \u201cConan\u201d and \u201cEllen\u201d) and 5. \u201cKeeping Up With the Kardashians\u201d (over \u201cBaywatch\u201d and \u201cGrey\u2019s Anatomy\u201d).\u00a0\u00a0 Perhaps the highlight of the event was the S & C Team maintaining that \u201cGrey\u2019s Anatomy\u201d was the Best TV Drama Ever, but later saying that it became the \u201cWorst TV Show Ever.\u201d\u00a0 The team said that the show started well, but had lost focus and energy over its 16 seasons.<\/p>\n

The Film and Video Society meets every first and third Wednesday of the month, at 7 p.m. in the Mass Media Building. The club\u2019s Halloween Horror Film Showing on October 16 will be \u201cUs,\u201d as an American family is pitted against doppelgangers of themselves.\u00a0 The next meeting, on Wednesday, Oct. 2, will discuss the preparation for the club\u2019s 48 Hour Film Festival, which will be held on Oct. 4 \u2013 6.\u00a0 The event will start on Friday night, at 6 p.m. in the Mass Media building.<\/p>\n

At that time, student teams will be given a line of dialogue, a prop, and a character, which students must include in their video production. Teams have 48 hours to write, shoot, and edit their piece, with no limits on the number of team members. The groups will present their pieces on Sunday at 6 p.m., to win prizes. First Prize is a $50 Gift Certificate. \u00a0\u00a0Join us for a two-day scramble of fun and creativity!<\/p>\n
