It\u2019s a type of filmmaking scramble, in which teams compete to write, cast, direct, shoot, and edit a narrative video in 48 hours. However, each team must include three elements in their movie, drawn at random at the contest\u2019s start: a prop, a character, and a line of dialogue. And so began the Mass Media Film and Video Society\u2019s Fall 48 Hour Film Festival, held on October 11 &#8211; 13.<\/p>\n<p>At 6 p.m. on Friday night, four teams were given the three elements: A cell phone that never works, someone who does karate kicks and poses all the time, and the line, \u201cYou wanna see something creepy?\u201d The winners were screened at 6 p.m. Sunday in the Mass Media Building.\u00a0 Teams were allowed to be as large or small as they liked, and their movie could be as short or as long as they liked.\u00a0 The First Place winner received a $50 Gift Certificate to Starbuck\u2019s, and the Second and Third Place winners each received a $25 Gift Certificate.<\/p>\n<p>The First Place award was won by Ryan Bryant and his team (Hakeem Bray, Desyree Hernandez, and Shawna Small). The piece, \u201cEntiti,\u201d involved a mysterious entity that haunted a young person.\u00a0 The Second Pace Award went to Amy Cash and her team (Cameron Tudor, Zach Robinson, and Jamie Collins) for their video, \u201c48 Hours,\u201d involving a strange transformation of a person.\u00a0 Third place went to Sedrick Bolton and his team for \u201cEntry.\u201d\u00a0 A fourth team, led by Nam Huynh, could not finish in time, but received an Honorable Mention.\u00a0 Their piece, \u201cFace Your Fear,\u201d was a karate movie which also featured Mason Hawk, Matt Varrone, and Kaitlyn Moore. \u00a0\u00a0FVS President Arriana Williams presided over the ceremony, and Vice President Cameron Tudor was a member of the 2<sup>nd<\/sup> Place Team.<\/p>\n<p>The Film and Video Society will hold a One Minute Film Festival in the Spring.
