(Photo by Tonya Wise\/Invision for the Television Acdemy\/AP Images)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif. \u2013 The Television Academy Foundation hosted\u00a0 its annual Faculty Seminar, which took place throughout Los Angeles until November 14. The Foundation\u2019s immersive Faculty Seminar connects the classroom to the industry by inviting 20 professors from across the country, introducing them to key television and entertainment players and allowing them to learn from industry professionals during the week-long seminar.\u00a0 Participating professors are chosen by Television Academy members.<\/p>\n<p>First launched in 1987, the Faculty Seminar continues to demonstrate the Foundation\u2019s dedication and commitment to tomorrow\u2019s industry leaders and storytellers. By investing in today\u2019s educators and connecting them directly with current leaders in the television industry, the Foundation provides an open forum to discuss the industry\u2019s future, the impact of technology and how television and entertainment is experienced.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Foundation\u2019s Faculty Seminar is a one-of-a-kind program that connects educators to television industry thought-leaders,\u201d said Norma Provencio Pichardo, executive director of the Television Academy Foundation.\u00a0 \u201cBy immersing university faculty into the television industry, we are helping to inform lesson plans, set curricular priorities and ultimately shape future television leaders.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This year, educators will meet high-level industry professionals behind some of the top programs on television including Gabrielle Stanton (Executive Producer, \u201cGrey\u2019s Anatomy,\u201d \u201cUgly Betty\u201d), Allison Drodner (Executive Producer, \u201cBig Brother\u201d), Dan Harrison (EVP, Strategic Program Planning, FOX), Jeff Melvoin (Executive Producer, \u201cArmy Wives,\u201d \u201cAlias\u201d) and Michael Lange (Director, \u201cMy Future Boyfriend\u201d).\u00a0 In addition to facilitating informative panel discussions with notable television influencers, the Foundation will also take educators behind-the-scenes of major studio and production facilities.<\/p>\n<p>To better reach a diverse range of educators with varying levels of exposure to the entertainment industry, the Television Academy Foundation rotates university eligibility by imposing a two-year waiting period on schools after participation in the seminar.<\/p>\n<p>The educators attending this year\u2019s event include:<\/p>\n<p>Anne Slatton; University of North Carolina \u2013 Asheville<\/p>\n<p>Beth Bonnstetter; Adams State University<\/p>\n<p>Beth Holmes; University of Scranton<\/p>\n<p>Chetachi Egwu; Nova Southeastern University<\/p>\n<p>Chris Clemens; California State University \u2013 San Francisco<\/p>\n<p>Collin Pillow; Arkansas State University<\/p>\n<p>Donna Gough; Claflin University<\/p>\n<p>Evan Johnson; Normandale Community College<\/p>\n<p>Glen Okonoski; Ferris State University<\/p>\n<p>Julian Rodriguez; University of Texas \u2013 Arlington<\/p>\n<p>Kelly Kessler; DePaul University<\/p>\n<p>Kevin Clark; George Mason University<\/p>\n<p>Kim Roberts; Grand Valley State University<\/p>\n<p>Laurie Ouellette; University of Minnesota \u2013 Twin Cities<\/p>\n<p>Marie Elliott; Valdosta State University<\/p>\n<p>Robert Powell; High Point University<\/p>\n<p>Rodney Smith; Ball State University<\/p>\n<p>Steven Kleinman; Indiana University \u2013 Pennsylvania<\/p>\n<p>Thomas Kenny; Molloy College<\/p>\n<p>Travis Newton; Western Kentucky University<\/p>\n<p>The Television Academy Foundation is committed to providing faculty from colleges and universities across the country with the opportunity to take part in this program.\u00a0 To apply for the Faculty Seminar, candidates must submit a letter explaining why they wish to attend, how they intend to use the experience at their school and a resume including courses that they are currently teaching.\u00a0 Submissions open every April, and selected delegates are notified in early September.<\/p>\n<p>About the Television Academy Foundation<\/p>\n<p>Established in 1959 as the charitable arm of the Television Academy, the Television Academy Foundation is dedicated to preserving the legacy of television while educating and inspiring those who will shape its future.
