VSU Theatre & Dance’s production of Sylvia<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>opens Thursday, February 16.<\/p>\n

ABOUT THE PLAY:<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Sylvia<\/em><\/strong> is a 1995 Off-Broadway hit starring Sarah Jessica Parker in the title role and recently revived with her husband, Matthew Broderick in the leading role. A. R. Gurney, prolific playwright whose works include previous VSU shows\u00a0Love Letters<\/em>\u00a0and The Dining Room<\/em>, has concocted an unusual love story about a man, his wife, and the scruffy, street-smart mutt who accidentally comes into their marriage and turns it upside down and inside out. This story is a romantic triangle like no other, filled with comedy, heartwarming sentiment, and theatrical innovation. It gives an entirely new meaning to the term \u2018puppy love.\u201d As husband and wife discuss, argue about, and come to blows over their relationship and the impact Sylvia has on it, Sylvia proves herself to be an animal who is a guide to finding the best in ourselves.<\/p>\n

*\u00a0To secure\u00a0a\u00a0reservation\u00a0VSU\u00a0students should visit the Box Office (Fine Arts\u00a0Building, Room\u00a01071, Monday – Saturday 2-5 PM)\u00a0\u00a0with a\u00a0$5\u00a0(cash)\u00a0potentially refundable reservation deposit. \u00a0Up to 4\u00a0VSU\u00a0Student Reservations per $5.\u00a0Then those with reservations should\u00a0report to the Sawyer Theatre no later than 15 minutes before curtain of the selected performance date\u00a0with\u00a0VSU\u00a0ID’s for each person in the party to secure the refund. \u00a0Failure to pick up tickets in a timely fashion will forfeit the reservation deposit and the seats.<\/p>\n

Students without a reservation\u00a0may opt to report to the Sawyer\u00a0Theatre beginning 30 minutes prior\u00a0to curtain to receive tickets as they are available, with presentation of VSU\u00a0ID. \u00a0Students wishing to sit together must report to the box office together.<\/p>\n
