{"id":183,"date":"2014-12-12T19:49:36","date_gmt":"2014-12-12T19:49:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.valdosta.edu\/comarts\/?p=183"},"modified":"2014-12-10T19:53:00","modified_gmt":"2014-12-10T19:53:00","slug":"here-comes-graduation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.valdosta.edu\/comarts\/2014\/12\/12\/here-comes-graduation\/","title":{"rendered":"Here Comes Graduation!"},"content":{"rendered":"<header class=\"entry-header\">\n<h1 class=\"entry-title\">Seniors<\/h1>\n<\/header>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<header class=\"entry-header\">\n<div class=\"entry-meta\"><span class=\"byline\"><span class=\"sep\">BY <\/span><span class=\"author vcard\"><a class=\"url fn n\" title=\"View all posts by sarawhetsell\" href=\"http:\/\/sarawhetsell.wordpress.com\/author\/sarawhetsell\/\" rel=\"author\">SARAWHETSELL<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<\/header>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p>\u201cHere comes the bride, all dressed in..\u201d wait, wait wrong life milestone. \u00a0On December 13, 2014 at 1pm, fourteen women will be graduating from the Valdosta State University Speech Communication, Public Relations Program. \u00a0This semester only females will be graduating from the program, which made for, \u201can interesting semester to say the least,\u201d said\u00a0senior Brittany Duren. \u00a0\u201cWe challenged one another to be the best we can be. \u00a0If one person felt discouraged, they didn\u2019t feel that way for long because we were a band of sisters united by a common goal that is\u2013graduation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Communication was listed by Forbes magazine as one of the most in demand majors. \u00a0You might ask why. \u00a0The seniors graduating from this program at Valdosta State University have taken courses\u00a0in Electronic Public Relations, Public Relations Layout and Design, Public Relations Writing, Public Relations Law and Ethics, Public Relations Plans and Campaigns, and Integrated Marketing to name a few. \u00a0These fourteen women have been trained to design, work with websites, write, and event plan. \u00a0Nearly all companies need people trained in at least one if not several of these fields. \u00a0The beauty of communication is that it is extremely versatile and it is a necessity in all areas of life. Communication is needed in the business place and in personal relationships. \u00a0Almost all fourteen women are interested in different areas of communication. \u00a0These soon to be graduates have worked tirelessly over the past few years, and they are excited to show the professional Public Relations world what Valdosta State University has to offer.<\/p>\n<p>A common statement between both faculty and students is that the Speech Communication Program is a family, \u201cIt\u2019s bittersweet to be graduating,\u201d said Duren. \u201cI am going to miss college and hope to be lifelong friends with the people I have met.\u201d \u00a0The students care about one another, and the faculty care about their students. \u00a0These fourteen women will take the professional world by storm, and next semester there will be more remarkable graduates joining them because the VSU Speech Communication Program produces well trained, prepared professionals.<\/p>\n<p>As one of the fourteen graduates, I can assure you I have been pushed, stretched, and encouraged by some of the best professors in the state. \u00a0I cannot wait to use the amazing experiences and knowledge I have gained and apply it in the professional world. \u00a0I love my program, and I love my school!
