The Happening at Valdosta State University took place on August 27, 2015. Hundreds of organizations, ranging from local businesses to different departments within VSU, set up tents on the front lawn to engage with students and the community. The Happening is an opportunity for VSU students to meet with representatives face to face and to learn more about what is available to them during their educational experience.
The P.A.S.S. Center in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences was present during The Happening, and representatives were eager to meet current and prospective students. With the help of Sean Hutchinson and Seth Megow, the tent was set up and ready to provide shade to participants and the collection of free give-aways. Students and visitors were drawn to pop-out fans, hand sanitizer, chapstick, and bags representing the CONHS logo. Perhaps the greatest hits were the pens that looked like syringes filled with blood! As people came to look at the free items, the P.A.S.S. Center was happy to talk with students and members of the community about the programs offered within the College of Nursing and Health Sciences. Many questions were answered and conversations were had with several individuals about the opportunities that are available.
Overall, The Happening was a great success and experience! The P.A.S.S. Center was thrilled to participate and looks forward to always being of assistance to students. Thank you to everyone who stopped by our tent and for all the individuals who helped make The Happening such a success!
