Congratulations to Ms. Thomas on having the manuscript which she has been working on in partnership for some time, DECOY: Documenting Experiences with Cigarettes and Other Tobacco in Young Adults. American Journal of Health Behavior, being published!
The paper is currently “In press” and will be published in the next issue of American Journal of Health Behavior. This is a project she has been working on with Emory University for 2 years now and is a collaboration of several universities and technical colleges in the state of GA to assess tobacco use and other related health trends in young adults. Dr. Carla Berg (Emory University) is the primary investigator. This their baseline paper that documents the survey process and our preliminary findings. They are currently working on several other manuscripts within this same population dealing with marketing trends targeted at young adults and health status related to tobacco use.
This research aims to increase understanding of the impact of tobacco product marketing on use and attitudes and how to effectively convey information regarding risks associated with tobacco use. The recruitment and retention methods and our baseline sample are equipped to address these aims.
