The CONHS screening of the documentary “Clinica de Migrates” was well received and attended. Thank you for Nursing Professor Paige Krispin for organizing this event. VSU Professor of Modern and Classical Languages Susan Wheling said of the event:
“Just a quick note to thank you and the College of Nursing so much for such an inspiring event! The film Clinica Migrante was amazing -it dealt with so many issues I cover in several different classes (PERS 2699, PERS 2799 and my regular core Spanish classes) so it is going to be a staple from now on , How super cool to have Dr. Larsen who founded the clinic to give us an inside view of his work and of Philadelphia. What was especially wonderful was that the audience was so participatory and on a Friday night to have such a great turnout! This was the first time I have seen the staff from the migrant clinic on campus. They drove 30 miles to attend this film. They were very inspired and deeply grateful that you brought awareness to campus about Latino and especially undocumented populations. Alma Young, director of the CAMP program at VSU (pictured below) was also very inspired and grateful. And most importantly you gave lots of food for thought to our students, including mine that are going on mission trips this summer.
Again thank-you for hosting one of the year’s best events and thanks to the Nursing Program for being so interdisciplinary and forward-thinking in their approach to medicine.”
