They received an opportunity to learn about cutting edge research in exercise physiology from leaders in the field, network with their peers, meet faculty from other universities, and learn about graduate programs in the southeastern US. Six of these students assisted with the audiovisual needs of the presenters during the symposia and tutorial lectures, a service that is provided by students at this conference. Three students (Kristopher Dawson, Travonse Colbert, and Bradley Collins) participated in the Student Bowl, which is a “Jeopardy” style competition where teams from 30 universities in the Southeast chapter of ACSM answer questions related to exercise physiology. This was the very first time that VSU prepared and supported a team at the Student Bowl and they performed splendidly. Our team ranked within the top 25% of universities based on their score before the Final Jeopardy round. The students, along with graduate program coordinator, Dr. Michael Webster and faculty Dr. Michael Gross and Dr. Dharini Bhammar, participated in the graduate student fair, where we unveiled our Masters in Exercise Physiology Program that we will commence in Fall 2017. We are so proud of our students for enthusiastically participating at the Southeast ACSM conference!

Seven students from the exercise physiology program represented VSU at the Southeast American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) conference.
