Review the sender\u2019s email address.<\/li><li><strong>Beware of online requests for personal information.<\/strong>\u00a0A COVID-19 themed email requesting personal information like your Social Security number or login information is a phishing scam. Never respond to these emails.<\/li><li><strong>Watch for spelling and grammatical mistakes.<\/strong>\u00a0If an email includes spelling, punctuation or grammar errors, it is possible this is a phishing email.<\/li><li><strong>Look for generic greetings.<\/strong>\u00a0Phishing emails are likely to use greetings like \u201cDear sir or madam.\u201d These usually signal an email is not legitimate.<\/li><li><strong>Avoid COVID-19 themed emails requiring an immediate response.<\/strong>\u00a0Phishing emails often create a sense of urgency.\u00a0<strong>Stop<\/strong>&#8211;<strong>Think<\/strong>-Then\u00a0<strong>Click<\/strong>.<\/li><li><strong>Report suspicious institution emails.\u00a0<\/strong>Contact the USG Enterprise Service Center at\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:helpdesk@usg.edu\">helpdesk@usg.edu<\/a>\u00a0(706-583-2001) if you receive      suspicious email from your institution account.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p> Be well and be cyber-safe!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dear Blazers: As the COVID-19 outbreak continues to evolve, bad actors are taking advantage of the situation to not only spread misinformation through social media and websites but are also using phishing emails to obtain personal information or spread malicious software.
