April 2 marked the 72nd &#8220;birthday&#8221; of the 1940 Census!<\/p>\n<p>View <a href=\"http:\/\/www.census.gov\/1940census\/then_and_now\/\" target=\"_blank\">how the United States is different today than in 1940<\/a>&#8211;or not so different?<a href=\"https:\/\/sn2prd0202.outlook.com\/owa\/redir.aspx?C=Z6pExwyZiEWybuEFxwwxEMGNEHFp5c4Ic79nMYr8EEebA6-Gnp_rDysXmoPd9g5IHj84z8syZy4.&amp;URL=http%3a%2f%2fwww.census.gov%2f1940census%2fthen_and_now%2f\" target=\"_blank\"><\/a> With such detailed records now at hand, we can even see <a href=\"http:\/\/www.census.gov\/1940census\/then_and_now\/key_comparisons_years.html\" target=\"_blank\">state-by-state comparisons<\/a> between the years.<\/p>\n<p>For <a href=\"http:\/\/1940census.archives.gov\/getting-started\/http:\/\/\" target=\"_blank\">getting started<\/a> with your own 1940 census search, visit the official NARA site&#8211;but it&#8217;s so popular right now that you might have to wait a bit!
