This year&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalservice.gov\/mlkday\" target=\"_blank\">MLK Day of Service<\/a> is Monday, January 18. <a href=\"http:\/\/MLKDay.gov\" target=\"_blank\">MLKDay.gov<\/a>\u00a0offers more information about available service opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>The Department of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.uscis.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\">United States Citizenship and Immigration Services<\/a> offers <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uscis.gov\/citizenship\/teachers\/martin-luther-king-jr-day\">educational materials<\/a> about the life of Dr. King and history of the Day of Service along with information about becoming a United States citizen.<\/p>\n<p>Read the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.archives.gov\/press\/exhibits\/dream-speech.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;I have a dream&#8221; speech<\/a>, available through the National Archives at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.archives.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\">archives.gov<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>For those traveling away from Valdosta this holiday, MLK Day is a good time to visit the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nps.gov\/mlkm\/index.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial<\/a> in Washington, DC, and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thekingcenter.org\/\">King Center<\/a> in Atlanta. \u00a0Once you return from holiday activities, remember that Odum Library will be open again on January 19 at 8:00 am.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;Life&#8217;s most persistent and urgent question,&#8221; asked Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., &#8220;is what are you doing for others?&#8221; View Odum Library&#8217;s exhibit of government materials about Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, available in the Reference area on the library&#8217;s second floor.
