The &#8220;Toni Erdmann&#8221; director spoke to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vulture.com\/2017\/06\/maren-ade-women-need-to-be-able-to-make-bad-films.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Vulture<\/a> during\u00a0Kering&#8217;s Women in Motion program, saying that &#8220;there really needs to be a profound change; there need to be more films made by women, period.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.indiewire.com\/2017\/05\/cannes-2017-jury-press-conference-will-smith-1201833503\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">READ MORE: Cannes 2017 Jury Press Conference: Will Smith Loved \u2018Jupiter\u2019s Moon\u2019 and \u2018BPM\u2019 Made Pedro Almod\u00f3var Tear Up<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">&#8220;I read something recently that felt true for me,&#8221; she added, &#8220;that if a woman ends up finally making a film, the chances that it\u2019s a good one, statistically, is very high, because once we get some money in our hands we try not to make something bad.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.indiewire.com\/2017\/02\/toni-erdmann-director-not-involved-english-remake-1201780711\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">READ MORE: \u2018Toni Erdmann\u2019 Director\/Producer Maren Ade Will Not Be Involved With the English Remake<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">That said, she doesn&#8217;t think it should have to be that way. Rather, women should be able to make bad movies without all other female filmmakers suffering for it: &#8220;We all need to be able to make bad films in order to be in the end that some of us make ten good films over, say, 50 years of the competition.
