Alessandro Puccinelli’s Photographic Celebration of The Harvest<\/span><\/p>\n

For all of the wine lovers out there it’s no news that this time of year presents the annual harvesting of grapes and along with that, amazing photo opportunities at every turn.\u00a0We grew ripe with envy when we\u00a0discovered Alessandro Puccinelli’s<\/a> beautiful imagery of the Muscat harvest in Southern France wanting to transport ourselves to this magical moment immediately.\u00a0<\/p>\n

If you’d like a little backstory on the the\u00a0harvesting\u00a0of wine\u00a0grapes, it’s actually the\u00a0most integral step\u00a0in the process of wine-making. The time of\u00a0harvest\u00a0is determined primarily by the ripeness of the\u00a0grape\u00a0as measured by sugar, acid and tannin levels and\u00a0winemakers base\u00a0this all-important\u00a0decision to pick based on the style of wine they wish to produce. I’m pretty sure the lovely woman in the last image may have discovered a bad grape. Enjoy and cheers!<\/p>\n

How do grape growers know when to harvest?<\/h3>\n

The best wine growers are so familiar with the taste of ripeness that they can walk down a row tasting grapes and know intuitively when to pick. However, there is a fair amount of science to back this up. Just so you know, timing the harvest is the\u00a0single most important decision<\/a>\u00a0a grower or winemaker makes each year.\u00a0<\/p>\n
