Once you&#8217;ve selected your interview partner for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/storycorps.org\/participate\/the-great-thanksgiving-listen\/\">The Great Thanksgiving Listen<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 whether you\u2019re a\u00a0student interviewing an elder\u00a0or looking to spark lively conversation around your Friendsgiving table \u2014 you can get ready by\u00a0reviewing our list of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/storycorps.org\/participate\/great-questions\/\">Great Questions<\/a>\u00a0or using the Great Questions Generator in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/storycorps.org\/participate\/storycorps-app\/\">StoryCorps App<\/a>. Here are some of our suggestions for getting a good conversation going:<\/p>\n<p><b>GREAT QUESTIONS FOR ANYONE<\/b><br \/>\n\u2022 How would you like to be remembered?<br \/>\n\u2022 What has been the happiest moment of your life so far? The saddest?<br \/>\n\u2022 What does your future hold?<\/p>\n<p><strong>FAMILY HERITAGE<br \/>\n<\/strong>\u2022\u00a0Tell me about some traditions that have been passed down through our family. When and how did they get started?<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0Where is your mom\u2019s family from? Where is your dad\u2019s family from? Have you ever been there? What was that experience like?<\/p>\n<p><strong>GROWING UP\u00a0&amp; SCHOOL<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0Did you have a nickname? What was it and how did you get it? Does anyone still call you by that nickname?<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0What did you think your life would be like when you were older?<\/p>\n<p><strong>CIVIC ENGAGEMENT<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0Has there ever been a time in your life when you wanted to vote, but were not able to? What was that like?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Consider brainstorming your own questions in your classroom, with your interview partner, or with your family.\u00a0<\/strong>Compile a list of new questions to use in your interviews specific to your family, school, or town. The more specific, the better! A few prompts to get the conversation going:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0What makes our family or town special?<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0What stories have you heard about this place or about us?<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0Is there an intriguing, confusing, or funny tradition in our family or town that you want to learn more about?<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0Is there a particular food we eat here that makes us unique?
