This November, we\u2019re settling in for a third helping of\u00a0<\/span>The Great Thanksgiving Listen<\/a>,<\/span>\u00a0our national project that empowers young people to connect with an elder or someone they admire and record their story using the\u00a0<\/span>StoryCorps App<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

With the crucial support of partners at the both the national and local levels across the country, more than 150,000 people have participated in this movement since 2015 \u2014 and we’re just getting started.<\/span><\/p>\n

To activate this project at a national level,\u00a0<\/b>StoryCorps works with partners across the media, technology, digital literacy, civic engagement, and education spaces. National partners include\u00a0<\/span>American Federation of Teachers<\/span><\/a>\u00a0(AFT),\u00a0<\/span>National Education Association<\/span><\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>Facing History and Ourselves<\/span><\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>Teach for America<\/span><\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>the National Council for the Social Studies<\/span><\/a>\u00a0(NCSS),\u00a0<\/span>Digital Promise<\/span><\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>Civic Nation<\/span><\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>Journalism Education Association<\/span><\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>the National Mentoring Project<\/span><\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>LRNG Learning Network<\/span><\/a>, and\u00a0<\/span>Jack and Jill of America, Inc<\/span><\/a>. Media partners include\u00a0<\/span>NPR<\/a>\u00a0and<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>TED<\/a><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

We are also pleased to partner with school districts and individual educators across all 50 states<\/b>. This year\u2019s state and district partners include Chicago Public Schools, DC Public Schools, Baltimore City Public Schools, Austin Independent School District, San Jose USD, Parkway Schools in St. Louis, Boston Public Schools, Texas Education Agency, Washington State OSPI, Virginia State Department of Education, Rhode Island Department of Education, and additional schools across the country.<\/span><\/p>\n

Beyond the traditional classroom<\/b>, we are pleased to welcome new partners this year with a dedicated focus on teen leadership, Adult Basic Education (ABE), English as a second or foreign language, college and career readiness, and continuing education for young adults ages 18\u201324. Local New York City partners include\u00a0<\/span>NYC Human Resources Administration Youth Pathways<\/span><\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>YMCA of Greater New York<\/span><\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>Literacy Assistance Center<\/span><\/a>, and the\u00a0<\/span>Tony Blair Institute for Global Change<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Great Thanksgiving Listen is also generously supported by\u00a0<\/span>Adobe<\/span><\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>Folgers<\/span><\/a>, and\u00a0<\/span>Barnes & Noble College<\/span><\/a>. Groundbreaking support for the StoryCorps App is provided by the\u00a0<\/span>Knight Foundation<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n
