{"id":833,"date":"2017-03-13T14:59:30","date_gmt":"2017-03-13T14:59:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/commarts.pleather.us\/2017\/03\/13\/barry-lyndon-live-score-first-look-experience-stanley-kubricks-period-drama-like-never-before-watch\/"},"modified":"2017-03-13T14:59:30","modified_gmt":"2017-03-13T14:59:30","slug":"barry-lyndon-live-score-first-look-experience-stanley-kubricks-period-drama-like-never-before-watch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.valdosta.edu\/m2\/2017\/03\/13\/barry-lyndon-live-score-first-look-experience-stanley-kubricks-period-drama-like-never-before-watch\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Barry Lyndon\u2019 Live Score First Look: Experience Stanley Kubrick\u2019s Period Drama Like Never Before \u2014 Watch"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Getting to experience a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.indiewire.com\/t\/stanley-kubrick\/\" id=\"auto-tag_stanley-kubrick\">Stanley Kubrick<\/a> movie on the big screen is always a treat, especially in 2017. \u00a0But when you throw in a 50-peice orchestra performing a live score, that experience suddenly becomes even more jaw-dropping.<\/p>\n<p>Such will be the case on April 8 when the musicians of the Wordless Music Orchestra take the stage at the Kings Theater in Brooklyn to accompany &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.indiewire.com\/t\/barry-lyndon\/\" id=\"auto-tag_barry-lyndon\">Barry Lyndon<\/a>.&#8221; The original score, which has been newly transcribed by composer Frank Cogliano, will be performed in its entirety and synced live to the film.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.indiewire.com\/2016\/11\/live-film-score-screening-tree-of-life-orchestra-1201748155\/\">READ MORE:\u00a0How Live Film Scores Are Finding New Life in the Age of Netflix<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Last Tuesday night,\u00a0members of the Wordless Music Orchestra performed a preview concert of selections from the one-night-only event, and you can check out a first look at their arrangements in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.indiewire.com\/t\/video\/\" id=\"auto-tag_video\">video<\/a> below.<\/p>\n<div style=\"padding-bottom: 56.25%;overflow: hidden\">\n<\/div>\n<p>Songs performed include\u00a0Handel&#8217;s Sarabande, the third movement of Vivaldi&#8217;s Cello Concerto in E Minor, an arrangement of the Adagio from Bach&#8217;s Concerto for Two Harpsichord&#8217;s and Orchestra in C Minor, and the second movement of Schubert&#8217;s Piano Trio in E-flat, which concludes both the first and second acts of &#8220;Barry Lyndon.&#8221;\u00a0An Irish ensemble also played all of the traditional folk songs heard in the film.<\/p>\n<p>The preview concert was held at the American Irish Historical Society in Manhattan, and was attended by members of the Society, colleagues and associates of Wordless Music, and members of the press.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets for &#8216;Barry Lyndon with Live Orchestra&#8217; on Saturday, April 8 are $55 &#8211; $100, and available now at <a href=\"http:\/\/www1.ticketmaster.com\/event\/03005170F09F789C\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Ticketmaster<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kingstheatre.com\/contact\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Kings Theatre Box Office<\/a>.
