Finding grant funding is a challenge, and we all know that finding the funding opportunity is just the beginning of the journey. Once we find possible resources there’s no guarantee you will be awarded the grant. Faculty then has to decide if the time needed to meet the requirements of the funding notice is worth the potential award amount.
Here in the Office of Sponsored Programs and Research Administration we share in your challenges, and there are things we can do together that will support greater success outcomes.
First, we ask you to visit our webpage and complete the contact form under the External Funding tab. If you’ve done this in the past and haven’t heard from us in a while then call us, email us, or send us an updated form. Admittedly we often get caught up in the activities surrounding faculty submissions and proposals, but this summer we have invested time in training and brought on a graduate assistant to match funding opportunities with faculty interests, and with these developments we are now better equipped to help you search.
Second, we challenge you to pull those past and unfunded proposals out of the drawer, dust them off, and share them with us. Reading these helps us to get better acquainted with what your project and research interests are. We can also help you update the proposal and get it ready for a new or re-submission. One fact we know is that the faculty who are most successful are those who are constantly searching and submitting.
Lastly, we want to meet you! Call us and schedule an appointment with our staff. We can meet in our offices or we can come to you. We have many resources for finding funding opportunities. Some of these resources are free and others are subscription based. Over the coming months we will be highlighting these resources here and in our blog. In the meantime, we look forward to hearing from you and learning more about your passions.
