FY18 Budget Request: White House Calls for Elimination of NEA, NEH, and IMLS

In its recently released budget blueprint for FY 18, The Trump Administration called for the elimination of the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), and Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). Each agency has released a statement, which you can read at the following links: NEHNEA, and IMLS. The agencies stress that obligated funding for FY 17 funding programs will continue as planned and that, in the meantime, they will move ahead in developing their FY 18 plans until an FY 18 budget is determined and finalized through the Congressional budget process. Though the agencies cannot actively advocate for funding, the directors in their statements recognize that their situation will likely be a topic of discussion among stakeholders and they will continue to educate the public on the role their agencies play in the Nation’s communities.  Read more
