The Spencer Foundation is now accepting research proposals to improve education, with awards up to $50,000 for projects lasting from one to five years. Applications are due November 1, 2019.
From anthropology and philosophy to law and economics, the Small Research Grants Program seeks to engage researchers from a wide range of disciplines and methodological perspectives. This “field-initiated” funding opportunity is not designed to gather findings based on a particular theory or method. Instead, the project serves as an open portal for innovative contributions that recognize learning that takes place across lifespans in a variety of settings, with attention given to classroom experiences, as well as the playground, home, and community at large.
Proposal content must aim to study education. Proposals for activities other than research are not eligible (e.g., program evaluations, professional development, curriculum development, scholarships, capital projects). International applicants are welcome. However, applicants must submit proposals written in English and budgets must reflect U.S. currency. Principal investigators (PI’s) must register on the Spencer Foundation online portal before accessing the application, so get an early start.
