Thanks to Dr. Brian Gerber, Valdosta State University is again a proud recipient of a competitive grant from the United States Department of Education Office of Migrant Education. Funds from the College Assistance Migrant Program (C.A.M.P.) grant will be used to help identify, recruit, and retain students who are legal U.S. residents or citizens and are migratory or seasonal farmworkers — or the children of these migrant workers — and build a bridge to higher education.

Through recruiting, counseling and advising, expansive programming, and community business partnerships, Valdosta State University CAMP (VSU C.A.M.P.) will provide STEM-related opportunities for all VSU C.A.M.P. students and promote cultural awareness through annual events strengthening VSU C.A.M.P. cultural appreciation among many other objectives.

Dr. Brian Gerber is the Director for VSU’s STEAM Center for Applied Creativity and Innovation. His research interests include informal learning, inquiry pedagogy, and science education.
