Two bipartisan bills seeking to increase federal focus on supporting women entering careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) were signed into law last week, marking President Trump’s first official work with science legislation. Both the “Promoting Women in Entrepreneurship Act” and the “Inspiring the Next Space Pioneers, Innovators, Researchers, and Explorers (INSPIRE) Women Act” seek to codify that existing STEM outreach efforts should focus on encouraging women to enter technical fields.
