The programs include\u00a0the\u00a0eagerly anticipated\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.federalregister.gov\/documents\/2019\/06\/19\/2019-13010\/applications-for-new-awards-strengthening-institutions-program\">Strengthening Institutions Program<\/a>\u00a0(Title III Part A; open to designated &#8220;eligible&#8221; institutions), which allows institutions of higher education\u00a0to expand their capacity\u00a0to serve low-income students;\u00a0the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.federalregister.gov\/documents\/2019\/06\/19\/2019-13041\/applications-for-new-awards-education-research-and-special-education-research-grant-programs\">Education Research and Special Education Research Grant Programs<\/a>, which support\u00a0education research and special education research in a wide range of areas;\u00a0and the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.federalregister.gov\/documents\/2019\/06\/19\/2019-13008\/applications-for-new-awards-minority-science-and-engineering-improvement-program-mseip\">Minority Science and Engineering Improvement Program<\/a>\u00a0(MSEIP), which is\u00a0designed to effect long-range improvement in science and engineering education at predominantly minority institutions and to increase the flow of underrepresented ethnic minorities, particularly minority women, into scientific and technological careers.<\/p>\n<p>Applications for Strengthening Institutions and MSEIP are due\u00a0<strong>July 19, 2019<\/strong>.\u00a0Education Research and Special Education Research applications are due\u00a0<strong>August 29, 2019<\/strong>\u00a0(except applications for the Education Research and Development Centers competition, which are due\u00a0<strong>September 26, 2019<\/strong>).\u00a0Follow the embedded links above to view the full announcements in the\u00a0Federal Register.\u200b<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Grants Resource Center, by\u00a0Wellons, Richard Last Wednesday, the\u00a0U.S. Department of Education (ED) announced competitions for three major grants programs that\u00a0provide opportunities for colleges and universities to build education capacity, engage in education research, and support diversity in their institutions.
