{"id":30,"date":"2016-07-25T20:48:37","date_gmt":"2016-07-25T20:48:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.valdosta.edu\/research\/?p=30"},"modified":"2018-06-18T15:53:44","modified_gmt":"2018-06-18T15:53:44","slug":"grant-life-cycle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.valdosta.edu\/research\/2016\/07\/25\/grant-life-cycle\/","title":{"rendered":"Grant Life Cycle"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Grant Life Cycle<\/h1>\n<p>Applying for grants is an exciting experience of turning\u00a0your ideas into a funded project, but it can also be frustrating\u00a0and time consuming. \u00a0OSPRA offers the resources and\u00a0experience to streamline the grant process and minimize the\u00a0administrative burden on faculty.<\/p>\n<p>Where are you in the grant proposal process?<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/www.valdosta.edu\/academics\/graduate-school\/research\/office-of-sponsored-programs-research-administration\/images\/grants-cycle.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"380\" height=\"370\" \/><strong>Proposal Writing<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Proposal writing starts with developing a concept for a project or research that will address a need. \u00a0Ideas may come from previous research or study, or they may come from personal interest or experience. \u00a0Once you have identified the problem or need and have thought of an idea for addressing it, begin formatting a proposal. \u00a0Your proposal demonstrates why you have the best solution for the issue at hand. \u00a0Be detailed in your descriptions of what you plan to do and what the expected outcomes will be. \u00a0Address things such as methods, evaluation, needed personnel, timeframes and budget.<\/p>\n<p>As your proposal begins to take shape, look for funding sources that match your goals. \u00a0Many sponsors will have strict and detailed guidelines for the content and format of your proposal so be prepared to make adjustments in order to secure funding. \u00a0Our team is available to review your proposal and possible funding sources to assist in determining a good match and interpreting sponsor guidelines.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Grant Management<\/strong><br \/>\nCongratulations, you&#8217;ve been funded! \u00a0Any award notice sent directly to the PI should be forwarded to OSPRA to ensure that the award is properly handled. \u00a0Once a notice of award is issued, you will need to complete PI Orientation to ensure compliance with all sponsor, institution and government requirements. \u00a0This orientation meeting will be held with the OSPRA director and the Restricted Funds Accountant to review the notice and set up the project.<\/p>\n<p>For all of your grant proposal-related questions &#8211; including funding\u00a0research,\u00a0writing, editing and submission\u00a0&#8211; please contact our Director of Research and Grant Strategy,\u00a0Kerry W.
