Please take a moment or two to review the information included below. Feel free to contact this office with questions and\/or concerns @ <a href=\"mailto:irb@valdosta.edu\">irb@valdosta.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Intellectual Property (IP) <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>IP is any innovation or discovery conceived or developed by faculty, staff, postdoctoral fellows or students using university resources. \u201cUse of university resources\u201d is purposefully broad and includes all use of employee or student time, equipment, supplies or facilities and clinical practice. For example, an idea arising from your work &#8211; is, by this definition, Intellectual Property.\n<ul>\n<li>The\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.gpo.gov\/fdsys\/pkg\/USCODE-2011-title35\/pdf\/USCODE-2011-title35-partII-chap18.pdf\">Bayh-Dole Act<\/a>gives universities the right to retain ownership of IP resulting from federally funded research. This right of ownership allows Valdosta State to protect your rights to use the IP and to continue to build on your research.<\/li>\n<li>The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia\u2019s policy on IP can be found at:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.usg.edu\/policymanual\/section6\/C352\/#p6.3.2_definitions\">http:\/\/www.usg.edu\/policymanual\/section6\/C352\/#p6.3.2_definitions<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Each employee inventor who develops IP is required to complete the appropriate disclosure forms.
