Fellowships support individuals pursuing advanced research that is of value to humanities scholars, general audiences, or both. Recipients usually produce articles, monographs, books, digital materials, archaeological site reports, translations, editions, or other scholarly resources in the humanities.<\/p>\n

Applicants interested in research projects that require digital expression and digital publication are encouraged to apply for\u00a0NEH-Mellon Fellowships for Digital Publication<\/a>.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s New for 2018<\/p>\n

NEH has increased the Fellowships monthly stipend from $4,200 to $5,000. As a result, the minimum award is now $30,000 (for six months of full-time work). The maximum award is now $60,000 (for twelve months of full-time work).<\/p>\n

Program Statistics<\/p>\n

In the last five competitions the Fellowships program received an average of 1,125 applications per year. The program made an average of\u00a077 awards per year, for a funding ratio of 7 percent.<\/p>\n
