Whether for sport or food, Georgia provides a wide array of wildlife that can be hunted or fished by the citizenry. Hunting season begins around the end of September and ends in May. Georgia has “big game” which includes Whitetail Deer, Wild Hogs, Black Bears, and Wild Turkey. Georgia also has “small game” animals which include Duck, Squirrel, Dove, Foxes and Coyotes. As outdoorsman, citizens in Georgia place the management, conservation, and preservation of wildlife habitats as a priority. Hunting licenses and special permits build revenue for the government to protect and enhance the natural environments for these animals. Fishing licenses also provide revenue for the governmental protection agencies. Georgia has many species of fish that are available for harvest in our waterways. Largemouth Bass, multiple species of Catfish, Bluegill, Black and White Crappie, and Gar are just a few species that Georgia has to offer. Living in Georgia allows for the citizens to hunt and fish for food and sport. An avid outdoorsman could provide themselves with meat and never have to visit a grocery store. Hunting is a lifestyle passed down from generation to generation in our communities. It encourages a deep respect for wildlife and nature. Also, hunting and fishing guarantees proper wildlife management of the given species. Hunting and fishing are also fun ways to spend time in the outdoors.

Tyler Gilbert Georgia Life Blog Outdoor Life As citizens in South Georgia, we have a strong connection with the outdoors.
