The topic of suicide can be difficult to discuss, but it is crucial that individuals know how to prevent themselves or a loved one from getting hurt. The importance of suicide prevention is to recognize the signs, learn how to communicate, and ask for help.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>If you are having suicidal thoughts, please know that you are <em><strong>important<\/strong><\/em> and <em><strong>worthy<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0 Life is hard sometimes, but this too shall pass.\u00a0 Please ask someone for help. You aren&#8217;t burdening your friends, family, or a professional by asking for help.\u00a0 <strong><em>We want you to live.<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0 If you are uncomfortable speaking with someone that you know, <em><strong>get in contact with one of the suicide prevention hotlines listed at the end of this blog post<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0 Someone is always there to help you when you need it.<\/p>\n<p>When people are in pain or dealing with stress, it is not always apparent and can be disguised in different ways. If you or anyone you know is showing any signs of depression, try communicating with them or others to seek help. A few of the signs are listed below:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Expressing Being a Burden to Others<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Always Feeling Alone<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Uncontrollable Anger Issues<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Constantly Talking Down on Themselves<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Increase in Drug Use or Alcohol<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Having Withdrawals<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Depression<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Family Violence<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Anxiousness or Agitation<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Once the signs have become evident, the next step is to speak up and communicate to others what is going on. This step can be very challenging because it puts a lot of pressure on a person and it takes courage to say what needs to be said. This list will help create a safe conversation to get to the core of the problem.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Sit down and give this person your undivided attention<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Start the conversation by referring to a sign you\u2019ve noticed<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ask them if they\u2019re thinking about suicide (Be direct)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">DO NOT promise to keep this secret<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Consistently Check-In<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Create a plan moving forward<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Discuss Support Services<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">There are many different resources that help with Suicide Prevention.
