Attention VSU students: If you are participating in a VSU class that is using an online component, beginning with Maymester 2013, you will be using VSU’s new learning management system, BlazeVIEW powered by Desire to Learn (D2L).

BlazeVIEW D2L supported courses range from web-enhanced courses where traditional face-to-face instruction is supplemented with web features such as syllabi and lecture notes, to courses that are taught completely online with no on-campus attendance requirements.

(If you are an eCore, eMajor, WebMBA, or Online Collaborative Education (GOML) student, your courses will be delivered in the collaborative learning management system, GoVIEW.) (more…)

Atomic Learning Tips

by Kathy Sundin on April 29, 2013 in Atomic Learning

Atomic Learning

As we mentioned in an earlier blog post, VSU has partnered with Atomic Learning giving faculty, staff and students 24/7 access to thousands of video tutorials on a wide range of topics. Some topics include Desire2Learn, M/S Office 2010, 2011 and 2013 Suite, Adobe Suite, Audacity, AutoCAD, Captivate, Camtasia, DreamWeaver, Facebook, Google, iPad, SmartBoard Notebook, Twitter, Windows, WordPress and YouTube. This is just a small sampling.

I recently attended an Atomic Learning overview session and learned some quick tips I wanted to pass along:

  1. With appropriate admin rights, faculty, staff and students can create custom training tutorials.
  2. With appropriate admin rights, training modules can be assigned or recommended to your students or users.
  3. Video tutorials will run on your smart devices, even iPad using QuickTime.
  4. You can sign up for the Atomic Learning newsletter to get monthly updates.

To access Atomic Learning:

  1. Select:                  My VSU from the main VSU webpage
  2. Select:                  Student or faculty portal
  3. Login:                    Using your BlazeVIEW username and password
  4. Select:                  Applications; if accessing through the student portal
  5. Select:                  Applications/Portals; if accessing through faculty portal
  6. Select:                   Login to Atomic Learning link

This is a great new resource for the Valdosta State University community.
