Saigon Rainy Days through Illustrations
Saigon Rainy Days through Illustrations
Let’s explore Saigon, Vietnam through illustrations by a bunch of folks including: Maxk Nguyen, Thai Thanh Do, Kawako Giang Nguyễn, Nguyễn Thành Vũ, Thinh Le, Hạnh Huỳnh, Người Đá, Vũ Hải Long and Nguyễn Thành Chiến. This amazing crew has created a tremendous series by illustrating scenes from the streets of Saigon in Vietnam. I loved the visual approach and of course the attention to details for each piece. From eventually the rain, the lighting, the character and going all the way to the reflection of the water on the floor from the rain falling down. Makes everything else magical!
The rainy season in Saigon is truly rainy. It rains from morning to noon, from evening to midnight. Wake up in the rain Saigon’s climate is like a switch, bone-dry is just one flip away from ever-wet. As hurried as the raindrops, thousands of wheels covered in colorful raincoats roll ceaselessly back and forth the city’s drippy face. Somewhere in the heavy pitter-patter, street cries still echo from the tireless feet. They keep walking because in Saigon, the rain will dry for the sun will shine

Film Theory: Why Don’t We Notice All Those Editing Cuts?
Edits are cuts in the “reality” of a film or television show, so they should be jarring. So why don’t we really notice them?

Meet Kareen Waris aka Waspa: 11-year-old kid with a tremendous drawing talent
Meet Kareen Waris aka Waspa: 11-year-old kid with a tremendous drawing talent
I think the title says it all basically! Meet Kareen Waris who is also known as Waspa that is currently living in Lagos, Nigeria. What is particular is that he is super talented artist and at only age of 11-years-old. Kareen started drawing at the age of 6 and his drawings are generally focused on portraits as we would call it: “hyperrealistic”. If you pay close attention, his drawings almost feel like a photograph. We had to feature his work on ABDZ, and we think he is the youngest artist we have ever featured. That’s very unique and impressive!
