A Conversation with Rachael Ray at the 2017 SXSW Conference [Video]
“I like working in food because like working in music, it’s something that people are never tired of . . . you may never be rich but you’ll always be employed.” – Rachael Ray
Television host and bestselling author Rachael Ray joined us for a conversation with journalist Gary Graff at the 2017 SXSW Conference. Rachael Ray’s career includes hosting multiple Food Network shows, a long-running lifestyle talk show The Rachael Ray Show, and is the author of many cookbooks. Gary Graff is a music journalist who has regularly contributed to many publications including Billboard and The New York Times.
Ray’s preference for practical food preparation through her “30-minute meals” illustrates that a passion for great food should not come at the expense of the other important parts of life: family, friends, entertainment, etc. She is a strong advocate for the music she loves, and hosted her tenth annual Feedback event during SXSW 2017. Feedback is an event that brings together Ray’s love for food, music, and Austin. In it’s ten-year run, Feedback has provided a stage for 150+ artists.
“If you’re a great musician you’ll always find a way to make your music, and if you’re a good cook you’ll always find a job, and you’ll always have a date.”
The conversation at SXSW focuses on her love of music and how it integrates into other parts of her work and personal life. Aspiring artists and professionals watching the session can learn from the way Ray exudes personality and charm in spite of such a busy professional life. For those more interested in her work as a chef, the extended Q&A at the end of the session includes many audience questions about her cooking ethos, and a lesson for all thrifty artists on how to modify a ramen diet to be healthier.

Interaction Design & iOS Design: Dribbble Redesign Concept
Interaction Design & iOS Design: Dribbble Redesign Concept
You know how we feel about redesigns on ABDZ right? It’s always a good thing to take a look at them and see what was the general thinking behind each concept. What was improved from the actual product. That way, you can definitely have a better idea. It is for this redesign concept for Dribbble that involves interaction design and iOS design. Designed by Vietnam-based designer Tran Mau Tri Tam, we are introduced to a simpler UI. I think what was the most interesting feature highlighted by Tran was Custom Tabs where you can organize your own tabs. A simple feature that can increase the overall user experience.
Tran Mau Tri Tam is a UX/UI designer based in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, he is also an exclusive elite author over at Envato Melbourne. You should definitely check out his latest work via his Behance.
I decided to challenge myself make a small concept that would let you know what I would like to add into Dribbble iOS App’s features. I also redesign almost visual interface what may make Dribbble looks better, at least for me

Illustration: Mayweather V McGregor by Yann Dalon
Illustration: Mayweather V McGregor by Yann Dalon
Whatever if you’re a fan or not, or you heard the news feeds or even social media channels. I am personally pretty happy with the overall outcome of the fight between Mayweather and McGregor. I am seeing it as a sports performance instead of what others might think. We are taking a look at this illustration tribute beautifully done by a Paris-based illustrator named Yann Dalon. I liked the fact that each character aren’t fully coloured with an desaturated effect.
Yann Dalon is an freelance illustrator currently based in Paris, France. His work is always oriented between illustration, painting and drawing. I just can’t believe that we haven’t shared his before on ABDZ.

11 Cinematography Tips That Will Make Your Aerial Compositions Better
Sometimes all it takes to grow as a cinematographer is changing your perspective.
It’s easy to get in a rut as a cinematographer. You’ve been shooting the same stuff with the same gear using the same techniques for longer than you’d like to admit and it’s starting to not only get repetitive, but it’s damaging your creative spirit, too. If you’re starting to feel like you’re capturing the same kinds of shots over and over again every time you turn on your camera, then maybe all you need is to change your perspective in order to see your surroundings in a whole new way. In this video from COOPH, you’ll learn eleven helpful tips that will help you do just that by using drones.
Even though these ideas are geared more toward drone photography, they apply to cinematographers of all types, whether they’re shooting with a drone or not. They focus primarily on composition and framing, like finding symmetry, vertices, patterns, and repetition, but they also touch on how to use color, lighting, and background to create dynamic shots.

Watch: 12 Trademarks You’ll See in Pretty Much Every Christopher Nolan Film
Though Christopher Nolan has a pretty diverse filmography, there’s a handful of signature characteristics in each of his films that remind you of his unique brand of filmmaking.
Whether he’s filming neo-noirs, sci-fi adventures, or superhero flicks, Christopher Nolan has a way of infusing his unique flavor of cerebral cinema, complete with bleakness, complicated intellectual acrobatics, and total mind-f**kery. And while most fans know about Nolan’s penchant for putting audiences through the metaphysical gauntlet (and then laughing maniacally while he watches them try to make sense of everything), what are some of the Oscar-nominee’s other cinematic trademarks? ScreenPrism explores twelve of them in the video below:

Watch: How to Pull Off 3 Crazy Simple (and Simply Crazy) Visual Effects
Creating great visual effects doesn’t always have to be difficult and time consuming.
Whenever I see a cool effect in a movie I always assume that it’s too complicated for a VFX noob like me to tackle—and most of the time I’m right on the money, but sometimes I’m dead wrong. While many effects are going to take a lot of time, work, money, and experience to pull off, you’d be surprised at how many you can do with very little know-how or time commitment. In this video from Film Riot, host Ryan Connolly shows you how to create three very cool, very crazy, very simple visual effects using some clever camera tricks and a few tools in post. Check out the tutorial below:
I love these effects. Let’s get that out of the way right now. The fact that the Film Riot team not only managed to recreate the “psionic blast” effect using the same techniques Logan VFX Supervisor Chas Jarrett used in the film, but managed to also replicate the look completely in-camera using a handheld massager is thoroughly exciting, because that means any one of us can do it.
