Architecture Photography of the Fluid Heydar Aliyev Center
Architecture Photography of the Fluid Heydar Aliyev Center
Abdelmalek Bensetti shared a beautiful architecture photography post on his Behance profile. The photos are of the Heydar Aliyev Center, a 57,500 m² building complex in Baku, Azerbaijan designed by Iraqi-British architect Zaha Hadid and noted for its distinctive architecture and flowing, curved style that eschews sharp angles.
The Center houses a conference hall (auditorium), a gallery hall and a museum. The project is intended to play an integral role in the intellectual life of the city. Located close to the city center, the site plays a pivotal role in the redevelopment of Baku.
The Heydar Aliyev Center represents a fluid form which emerges by the folding of the landscape’s natural topography and by the wrapping of individual functions of the Center. All functions of the Center, together with entrances, are represented by folds in a single continuous surface. This fluid form gives an opportunity to connect the various cultural spaces whilst at the same time, providing each element of the Center with its own identity and privacy. As it folds inside, the skin erodes away to become an element of the interior landscape of the Center.
Architecture photography
All the pictures were taken by Abdelmalek Bensetti with a Canon 100D – 10-18mm, 18-55mm & 70-300mm.

How One Filmmaker Documented the Hero Journey of the World’s Most Successful Female Artist
Does the idea of filming someone’s life story for three years without their permission sound utterly terrifying? For filmmaker Heather Lenz, big risks came with big rewards.
Yayoi Kusama is now the most top-selling female artist in history. While you may know her from the explosion of Instagrammable infinity rooms and polka dots in recent years, her journey began decades ago, trying to storm the art world…unsuccessfully. Kusama just happened to be way ahead of her time.
Evidently, so was filmmaker Heather Lenz. As an art student in the 1990s, Lenz became interested in Kusama when she had a rare are show in New York City. Lenz decided she had to tell Kusama’s story. She started out, 17 years ago, writing a biopic. She eventually realized she should make a doc that would show Kusama herself. The only problem? Heather Lenz had yet to meet Kusama. “It was 2004 when we started shooting, and it was 2007 before we met her,” explained Lenz to No Film School. “This is what not to do!”

How to Add a Timecode Stamp to Your Premiere Pro Exports
It’s time to make time for timecode.
Premiere Pro gives you a number of different ways to work with timecode. For example, you can throw the Timecode effect on individual clips to show source timecode, or even generate your own. Use timecode to quickly jump to a specific part of your sequence by simply typing a specific time in the timeline panel. You can also create a custom timecode overlay for the Program Monitor, displaying timecode information from any or all tracks. Premiere even has a customizable Timecode panel.
One of the best ways to utilize timecode is via an overlay stamped onto your exports. This is perfect for when your sending deliverables to a client for review. With a timecode stamp, clients can quickly and easily reference any section of your project. The overlay can also serve as a watermark, preventing clients from walking away without paying. Let’s take a quick look at how to add a timecode stamp to your Adobe Premiere Pro exports.

Watch: Get Introduced to the Mystic Theatre of Alejandro Jodorowsky
This video is an introduction to the mind-bending alchemy of the films of one of the most singular, symbolic and influential surrealist filmmakers of all time.
As Lewis Bond points out at the start of this new video from Channel Criswell, “fewer filmmakers have been more perplexing, more outrageous in their artistic output than Alejandro Jodorowsky” and that’s even when the Chilean-French filmmaker, novelist, poet, editor, psychoanalyst, sculptor (and on and on) is compared to other “surrealist filmmakers.”
Jodorowsky’s “attention-grabbing style of exhibitionist cinema puts him in a league as beyond replication” in Criswell’s opinion, which is saying a lot for someone who has only made six official films in his career (thus far, and he is only 89, after all). Check out the video below.

Watch: First Footage Released for Harmony Korine’s Latest Feature, ‘The Beach Bum’
From the mind that brought us ‘Spring Breakers’ comes Matthew McConaughey in a role that may prove to be his ‘Big Lebowski.’
The latest from Harmony Korine, the gnarly auteur who brought the world Spring Breakers, Trash Humpers, Gummo, and Julien Donkey-Boy (to say nothing of his brutally honest and yet sensationalized screenplays for Larry Clark’s Kids and Bully) The Beach Bum is almost upon us. At the very least, 2019 can’t arrive soon enough.
Starring Matthew McConaughey in a role he was either born or sentenced to play, the redband trailer looks appropriately drugged out and soaked in neon (unsurprising given the film’s theatrical distributor: NEON). It also packs in a solid number of quotable lines in just a few seconds courtesy of Mr. McConaughey and yes, Snoop Dogg. Check it out below.
It’s interesting to see how Korine has grown into a filmmaker with such a sustainable career, his projects ranging from gritty, low-budget endeavors shot on home video cameras to larger-budgeted features starring Disney Channel notables and Academy Award winners.

Watch: How Christopher Nolan’s ‘Following’ Laid the Groundwork for His Career
Christopher Nolan’s ultra low-budget indie debut provided signs of the director’s later work.
While Memento was the first film that catapulted him into public consciousness, Christopher Nolan’s first film was actually made two years prior. Following is an urban noir and the story of two men. One is a a shy, retiring writer and the other a burglar, though they are united by a voyeuristic fascination with the lives of others that will lead to no good end and a double-twist ending of remarkable dexterity.
In the video below, Thomas Flight looks for hallmarks of the director’s style that are already present in his debut, a film that should be a true inspiration for any would-be indie filmmaker out there, a feature shot on a year’s worth of Saturdays for $6,000.

Amazon Web Services: Design System
Amazon Web Services: Design System
Design Systems, a term that is easily misunderstood among many of us or within the industry. Why? Well, it’s because we all have our own conclusions about what is a Design System. I don’t personally think there are any right or wrong ways of creating a DS (Short of Design System). I believe that it all depends on what is the scale of the company you are working for whatever that is small or big. This is where the difference should be more affected by. We can go deeper on ABDZ if you wanna know more about Design Systems. Today, we are showcasing the work of Michal Simkovic who worked on the visual design of the design system for Amazon Web Services. Aside from the work itself, I love how he credits his team from the research and UX. I am sure making a design system at this scale is not a “one-solo-show”. Congrats to everyone from Amazon Web Services!
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is the largest cloud service platform, offering compute power, database storage, content delivery, and other functionality to help businesses scale and grow. Millions of customers are leveraging AWS to build sophisticated applications with increased flexibility, scalability, and reliability. Basically: Half of the internet is down? Yup, that’s most likely AWS. Even right now, reading this case study, you’re using AWS infrastructure. Amazon Web Services is a dream client of every designer. Where else would you get to design so many tables?! It took us almost a year since the inception till the first service (client) onboarding. I was responsible for the visual design. There were many folks working on research and UX part of the project, and folks selling the whole thing up the chain (please see the credits on the bottom, since a lot of them don’t have Behance account).
